Riot Games are the developer of League of Legends, the most played PC game on the planet.
Riot operated an internal 'Creative Services' team in Brighton UK up until 2016 of which I was a part, representing the discipline of Creative Technology for Europe.
Working for Riot required an in-depth understanding of the needs and desires of players who are highly engaged, with high expectations for Riot's digital content. It also required a commitment to digital security, localisation across 13 languages and close collaboration between remote teams across a range of technologies.
Projects/responsibilities included:
- Responsive web builds, localised into 13 languages, submitted for intense security checks and deployed using Amazon AWS (configured with terraform).
- An image manipulation social app that allowed 300k players following the World Championships to change their Facebook and Twitter profile pictures in support of their favourite team.
- Scoping, planning and identifying vendors for interactive installations at key Riot events.
- A surprisingly complex global Cookie Management workflow for use on their 100+ distinct and unique global sites. Designed and built an unobtrusive solution, identifying and integrating with third party cookie auditing and management tools.
- Research and Development initiatives including creation of tools, workflows, and internal prototypes e.g. 3D data visualisation using telemetry from professional games.
