I am passionate about exploring the opportunities technology provides to engage, captivate, inspire and delight.
I am a Creative Technologist: a Technical Manager, with Software Development skills, an Arts/Science Education and a passion for delivering Creative work.
I provide development skills and experience for projects where Creativity and Technology must blend seamlessly. I offer the following services:
I have deep experience of the processes and disciplines involved in modern web application development including: software engineering, technical architecture, test-driven-development, continuous integration, hosting and deployment, quality assurance and agile development.
Every campaign I've produced over the last several years has had a social component, from complex user-specific Facebook visualisations, to simple sharing mechanics and content optimisation. I've experienced numerous iterations of social media platforms, adapting as expectations have evolved and new opportunities have presented themselves.
I have a sophisticated technical knowledge of working with video from production through compression and the creation of interactive experiences in both Flash and HTML. Video is often a key component of the work I do and I am well versed in the challenges presented by technical platforms, global network infrastructures and device fragmentation.
A complex endeavor and easily underestimated. I studied game design and development at undergraduate level and left the digital advertising industry for two years to lead the development team of a gaming startup. I also spent a year working with Riot, one of the world's most successful game developers. I learnt an enormous amount about the process of conceiving, refining and delivering effective gaming experiences.
I have consulted on multiple mobile projects often producing proof of concepts in HTML and Adobe AIR as well as native iOS and Android. I don't consider myself a mobile developer but am familiar with the technologies behind them and can confidently lead a mobile team.
I cut my teeth on the 3D web back in the days of Shockwave, tinkered with Microsoft Silverlight and worked on the alpha of Adobe Flash's Stage 3D. With WebGL supported across modern browsers, this is an area of the web where I am actively experimenting.
I've had the opportunity to work on several interactive installations. I find that a grounding in object oriented programming and experience with common frameworks makes it a comfortable space to explore physical and immersive forms of interaction.
Well exectued experiental microsites have been the foundation of my career and have shaped the versatile, collaborative and highly creative approach I bring to all of my projects.
VR is an area I have been monitoring closely, building links with independent studios and film production companies. Despite the hype, I anticipate a huge variety of opportunities within many different industries to emerge as headsets become more available and have invested time in exploring WebVR. I have also had the opportunity to explore Augmented Reality on mobile devices using Vuforia on iOS.
